The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom several methods of duplicating items have recently been created. With them you can collect a lot of materials and weapons. However, there is an even faster technique. Here is our guide to help you with the Shield Surf exploit for a very easy Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom item cheat method.
How to use the Shield Surf item forge method in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an item cheat method more famous it’s the one that involves attaching arrows, shooting a bow, and having to hit the pause button twice pretty quickly. For some people, this can be a source of frustration for others. Fortunately, there is a quick and easy method that has just been discovered.
While we can’t say who was the first player to discover this method, we found the video courtesy of YouTuber PieBen.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom item cheat method with Shield Surf
Here’s what you need for the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom item cheat method with Shield Surf:
- Equip the shield, of course.
- Have the item you want to copy (at least one).
- Have another item that you only have one of. Let’s call it “Solo item” as a reference.
- Make sure the item you want to cheat is in the bottom/last slot of your material inventory. You can do this by dropping that entire item and then picking it back up. Be careful though, because if there are more than 20 items cluttered on the ground, some of them will disappear.
- When you’re ready, go Shield Surf. This is done by holding ZL, pressing X to jump, then pressing A.
- In the middle of your Shield Surf animation, open your material inventory. Then hold the Solo Item and the actual item you want to copy in your hand.
- When you land on the ground, items will fall. However, if you check your inventory, the original items you had before are still there.

This is currently the fastest item cheat method in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You no longer have to worry about falling off your bow or quickly pausing/resuming. Likewise, you can get multiple copies in one action.
And yet there are some caveats. Here are some tips to consider:
- As mentioned earlier, too many items cluttering the ground will cause some of them to disappear. Make sure you pick up those who have been tricked to avoid accidents.
- If you want to speed things up a bit, avoid picking up the “individual items” you use for this trick until you’ve finished your “duplicate batch”. Otherwise, you’ll have to drop the fake material over and over again to get it to return to the bottom of the inventory tab.
- Shields will lose strength when you use a shield. You may want to equip one-time destroyed options so you don’t waste the ones you need for combat. Alternatively, just Fuse two Hylian Shields together.
- This exploit works on almost all materials. Here are some examples:
- Diamonds and other precious stones can be sold for many rupees.
- Large Zonite can be converted into Large Crystallized Charges for you Energy Cell Update.
- While you can’t do this for Zonaite Devices (they’re part of a separate inventory tab), the double works on Large Zonaite Charges. Then you can place them Device dispensers to get the right tool.
- Silver Lynel materials and other enemy drops can be drained onto weapons or shields.
- Star Fragments and other rare resources are required for upgrades.
- Avoid: insects, fairies and lizards – they will fly or run away.
Either way, there may be other Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom item cheats just waiting to be discovered.
