Woody Harrelson said he could barely stand to see his War for the Planet of the Apes work now. Harrelson played the Colonel War for the Planet of the Apes, the protagonist and also the main antagonist of the film. As his title suggests, Harrelson’s character is a military colonel leading a battle against Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his ape army.
Reflecting on his performance in the 2017 film, Harrelson discusses his painful reaction to watching the film. War for the Planet of the Apes work now. talk to NYT, Harrelson explains how he questions his past self when considering former roles. Pointing at him War for the Planet of the Apes role, Harrelson feels “it could have been done 20 times better” now given the chance. Check out Harrelson’s full quote below:
“When things are going right, I don’t feel bad. But there are performances where I’m like, “Why couldn’t I get out, whatever I was doing?” I thought. Ten years later, I think of something I have to do in a scene and I want to rip my head off. “Planet of the Apes,” one of those times where there’s so much technology involved in what we’re doing, I was a little scared. If I were to do this part again, I could do it 20 times better.
There are a few roles where you go back and think: Why didn’t I try that? Why didn’t I do it? Why didn’t I step into a completely different character? But maybe it’s better to let things go. They can follow you.”
What’s next for Planet of the Apes?
Feeling overwhelmed by technology is certainly an understandable reaction to a War for the Planet of the Apes actor Everything is modern though Planet of the Apes trilogy films feature human characters, the film’s many ape characters require motion technology. Harrelson was then featured, in many scenes, buttoned up on the green screen soundstage and being one of the few regular-clothed actors against a sea of wired-up costars.
Unfortunately for Harrelson, he won’t get another chance Planet of the Apes universe. The to follow up on War for the Planet of the Apestitled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, takes place many years after the events of the former film. Since the death of the colonel War for the Planet of the Apesit doesn’t affect the chronological follow-up, so it won’t appear again unless it’s in a flashback.
Little has been revealed about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film follows Caesar’s legacy long after his death War For Planet of the Apes. It will feature mostly new characters, including William H. Maku, Dichen Lachman, Kevin Durand and Freya Allan. I hope those who have played within people Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes They leave feeling better about their performance than Harrelson.
