Larian confirmed that an Xbox version of the game is in development, but its release status is currently unknown due to technical issues that the studio has yet to resolve.
“We’ve been developing an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 for some time now,” the announcement reads. “During the development of the Xbox port, we ran into some technical issues that we couldn’t be 100% sure about announcing until we were sure we had the right solutions — specifically, we couldn’t get split-screen co-op. op to work to the same standard on both Xbox Series X and S, which is a mandatory condition for sending.
“There is no platform exclusivity that would prevent us from releasing BG3 on Xbox day in and day out if it is technically possible. If and when we do announce new platforms, we want to make sure each version meets our standards and expectations.”
“Larian is now planning to release Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, PoppyGeForce NOW and PS5,” the representative said Push square. “However, they do not have exclusivity and will announce support for additional platforms if and when they are ready.”
Although it wasn’t clear what he was referring to, Larian CEO Sven Winke also tweeted hours after the initial announcement: “Relax. We’re still not playing exclusivity.”
“The land of Faerûn is under siege by a hostile and otherworldly force known as the Mind Destroyers,” according to the description accompanying the new Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay trailer above.
“Their army expands with every brain they infect with the parasitic tadpoles, a creature now writhing deep within your mind. You become one of them: a monster feared by many worlds. But as their corruption grows in you, so do new mysterious powers.”
Another new trailer, which can be viewed below, shows actor JK Simmons as General Catheric Torme, one of the game’s three main antagonists.
According to Larian, he is “a seemingly invincible necromancer who leads an army of the dead to the city of Baldur’s Gate.”
