Honestly, no. Just no. Away with this snow. Less than 30 centimeters of snow is not enough to justify a repeat winter. Please give us spring. We need it. I barely remember the feel of the sun on my arms, or the sinking of my toes into the warm sand, or the embrace of the water, which, admittedly, is still dangerously cold, but at least more refreshing than painful. Ah! Then come on, tell us what you’re playing this weekend. That’s what we click on!

I’m playing Final Fantasy themed DLC for PowerWash simulator. Since I’m only passingly familiar with FFVII, I’m looking at everything purely functionally, sucking air through my teeth and saying things like, “What the hell were you doing with that giant robot weapon with a scorpion tail? These are some stubborn spots, right! It will be more work than what I quoted you on the phone.

I enjoy mine lovely peaceful walks in Sons Of The Forest so maybe a few more before I resume my eternal hunt for new walking simulators.

I don’t know what weird mod adds mutants, survival and crafting to Sons Of The Forest, but maybe these tips will help?

I’m visiting my parents this weekend so probably not many games. I could use a little squeeze FortniteA new season on my Sunday night as it now has a brand new Cyberpunk City?!

far!

I will either play Final closed beta or sit staring at my Steam library waiting to be accepted into The Finals closed beta.

After a long weekend visiting family last week, I’ll start Hi-Fi Rush serious today to prepare for fun RPS gaming club discussion at the end of the month. Watching the Double Fine documentary Psych Odyssey also keeps me coming back Psychonauts 2 at the moment, but I’m still knee-deep in trying not to die a horrible, frozen death in the Pale Beyond also. So many good games and so little time!

Wild Hearts image showing a player wearing samurai armor and holding a large bow, with a flowering tree in the background.

I just started a new game Wild hearts, this time without the added pressure of having to complete everything as quickly as possible for the purposes of the guides. I loved playing Monster Hunter Freedom on my PSP as a kid, but I’ve given up on every Monster Hunter game since. Wild hearts have me. It recreates some of that childish joy of bashing huge monsters over the head, following them as they retreat, bashing them again, bashing them to death, smashing their remains to pieces, smashing new weapons and armor to pieces, smashing more monsters with new weapons, etc.

I spend all my weekends playing Paranormasnight, a horror visual novel with the worst title in video game history. I’ve played for about an hour and I really like it. It’s a supernatural murder mystery that’s genuinely creepy, has an interesting (but terrifying) twist on the VN formula, and a jump scare that doesn’t feel cheap. I’m pretty stoked at the moment, so fingers crossed I keep this momentum going until the end.

My parents were visiting and we hadn’t seen each other since New Year’s, so it would have been pretty anti-social of me to bury my head in games all weekend. But I might stick with Animal Crossing and see if 2023 is my year finally managed to get the damn recipe for the shamrock stick from the balloons during their stingy eight-day annual fall period.

But you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend?
