Darktide’s pre-beta phase has begun, and players are facing challenges beyond the power of Chaos. Warhammer 40K: Darktide beta crash bugs, stability issues, and other issues have also plagued violent co-op play during this pre-release period, during which players who pre-order can start playing earlier. Developer Fatshark has posted a list of known issues and possible workarounds, while players themselves have suggested a few solutions to common issues.
One of the most common issues that Darktide beta players are currently experiencing is crashes. The game will crash during the mission and it may take a few minutes for Darktide to restart and reconnect to the game session. Fatshark recommends making sure that Darktide (and the Darktide game catalog) is whitelisted by any antivirus software you use on your system.
Players have also suggested reducing the number of worker threads dedicated to Darktide, a setting that can be configured in the Darktide launch window. Fatshark pointed out that running Steam as an administrator might also help.
The pinned Fatshark post on the Darktide discussion forums on Steam has additional recommendations, including deleting the Darktide AppData folder (located in the AppData\Roaming\Fatshark folder) and reinstalling the .NET Framework 4.7.2, which you can find here, or running the .NET Tool recovery framework from Microsoft.
The developer emphasizes the importance of using the latest drivers for your graphics card, so whether you have an AMD or Nvidia GPU, double check to make sure you have the most recent version of the correct drivers – it might even be worth doing a clean installing the latest drivers.
Players have also suggested turning off all ray tracing, DLSS and AMD FSR settings for the time being. While DLSS and FSR can significantly improve framerates, players have reported that disabling them for the time being results in better stability.
There are several known issues that Fatshark says are currently being monitored and there are no workarounds for them yet. Users of AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics cards may experience Darktide crashing at startup, and Fatshark says it’s a driver-related issue and that they’re working with AMD on a solution. Another crash or freeze occurs for some players when they change the windowed mode setting in graphics settings – this is also a known issue, says Fatshark.
Check Warhammer 40K: Darktide PC system requirements to make sure your system meets the minimum requirements. If you’re still running into problems, Fatshark says you can submit bug reports using the technical support section of the official Darktide forum.
