A mass march was held on Saturday in the streets of downtown Santiago with colorful flags demanding rights to sexual diversity.
The march comes just days after the Chilean Congress officially recognized November 16 as National Diversity Day.
The Senate approved a bill that promoted the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation.
The LGBTQ+ collective has been celebrating that day since 2002, and now the project must be approved by President Gabriel Borić.
According to the organizers, 100,000 people attended the XV. edition of ‘Santiago Parade, march for equality’.
They call on the government to sponsor the creation of an anti-discrimination institution in light of the rise in hate crimes.
