More than a year later Poison: Let it be murder The director of the film, Andy Serkis, shocked the world with his famous post-credits scene, detailing the role of some favorite superhero in it. After his battle with Carnage and Shriek, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his symbiote find themselves transported to another universe, where they watch a news release featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Just a few months away from the much-anticipated cinemas Spider-Man: No Way Home, Let there be murder‘s post-credits scene has been major news in superhero fandom, but it’s clear that Tom Holland features more shots of Peter Parker.
Andy Serkis recently sat down together GQ magazine to promote a new one netflix movie, Luther: The Fallen Son. While discussing his latest directorial feature, Serkis also revealed more about Holland’s cameo at the end of the film. Poison 2saying:
“It wasn’t clear how the world would relate to our world … There were drafts that included more, a little more, something else. It wasn’t said. It was very, very carefully selected.”
Serkis has remained tight-lipped about Holland’s initial plans to appear in the film, but early drafts of the script suggest the MCU actor may have expanded his role. His statement also included coordination between Marvel and Sony to figure out the perfect way to introduce Venom into the MCU. Obviously, the two studios ultimately decided that less is more and reduced Holland’s role to a few quick minutes.
Could Hardy’s Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man still meet?
While Tom Hardy’s Venom has been relegated to his own world until he crosses paths with the MCU’s Spider-Man, it’s possible the two iconic heroes will meet on screen at some point in the near future. There is no way home pointed to The Venom symbiote can bond with Peter Parker as yet unnamed Spiderman 4, but it’s unclear if Hardy’s character has anything to do with such a story. Most likely, Spider-Man’s journey with the symbiote will remain relatively self-contained, barring any multi-faceted plot twists.
However, the MCU’s ongoing Multiverse Saga still allows for Hardy’s Venom and Dutchman’s Spider-Man to meet. Indeed, the much-anticipated conclusion to phase 6, Avengers: Secret Warsprovides the perfect opportunity for the two characters to finally come face to face. Secret Wars Combines several non-MCU franchisesperhaps Sony will introduce the VenomVerse into one multifaceted Battleworld, where characters from any Marvel franchise can interact for the first time.
Serkis’ comments suggest that Marvel and Sony have plans to reunite Hardy and Holland at some point, even if the details of their meeting remain unclear. While not always amorous, the relationship between the two studios is unprecedented in the film world, and it speaks volumes. A crossover between Spider-Man and Venom not only possible but inevitable. Poison: Let it be murder Dutchman was the first step in the meeting between Spider-Man and Hardy’s Venom, but it wouldn’t be the last.
