Three and a half years after its announcement, numerous delays and a new developer, Ubisoft’s remake of Price of Persia: Sands of Time is still in the “concept” stage.

There was a “full-fledged” remake of Sands of Time by Ubisoft officially presented in September 2020, with an expected release date of next January. However, his restless development was noticed by the publisher double delay its release before finally transfer of project control from Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal.

After that big shake-up in May 2022, Ubisoft only said that its Sands of Time remake would be released “when it’s ready.” However, a new development update on the Ubisoft website now suggests that “ready” may still be quite a ways away.

In 2020, Ubisoft presented its Sands of Time remake.

“In terms of the development stage, we are currently in concept,” explained producer Jean-Francois Noh. “Since we started the project, we’ve been studying community feedback and finding our own way to present the game. We are now building a team, prioritizing, putting together prototypes, testing elements and looking at how we can incorporate community feedback into development as well.”

Given that the Sands of Time remake remains in the “early stages,” Naud notes that players “shouldn’t expect to hear much more about the game this year,” adding, “but rest assured that we’re all pouring our hearts and minds into this project.” ”

So, if you have Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Reopening Remake on your bingo card for this year’s Ubisoft Forward presentation on June 12, now is probably the time to replace it with something else (just maybe unrelated release date of “Skull and Bones”). Among the record losses and a a number of canceled gamesThe publisher has a lot to prove in June, so expect to see at least a few major events, likely including Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, Avatar: The Borderlands of Pandoraand maybe even look into The developer of the open-world Star Wars game Massive.
