Get ready to explore the dark fantasy realm of the Continent in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next generation update. Whether you’re stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia for the first time, or you’re a monster-slaying veteran with a hundred hours, there are plenty of reasons to dive into this vast world of choice and consequences this winter. The next generation update for Xbox Series X|S will be released on December 14th. It’s free for all current owners. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox One, with improvements, new features, and additional content to give this beloved role-playing game a more modern twist. So let’s see what’s in store!
First, technical updates. Xbox Series X players can choose from performance and quality modes. Performance prioritizes frame rate at 60fps, while quality prioritizes visual fidelity at 30fps. In Quality mode, ray tracing comes into play with ray-traced global illumination and ambient occlusion, providing more realistic overall lighting and surface lighting effects. Xbox Series S players can choose between 30FPS and 60FPS dedicated modes, with the former presenting the game with better textures and higher resolutions, while the latter delivering a smooth 60FPS experience. In addition, Xbox Series X features FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), a powerful scaling technology that boosts frame rates and uses a spatial scaling algorithm to maintain high image quality.
The next generation update also comes with built-in mods. Modding scene for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has always been vibrant and impressive, and we’ve prepared a selection of mods that includes a wide range of improvements, such as reworked textures and character models up to 4K, updated monster models, visual bug fixes, immersion tweaks, and even map inconsistency. fixes. It was great to implement mods created by the community to help make this version of the game as beautiful, consistent, and up-to-date as possible.
We also have gameplay/content additions made in-house by CD Projekt Red. We’ve gone through hundreds of mods and community requests to see what smart additions could be added, and as a result, the gameplay has become more streamlined, as well as our own improvements to textures, character models, and cutscenes. There are too many to mention here, but some notable additions include the quick application of signs, which makes it easier and more intuitive to use witcher signs in combat (no need to fiddle with the radial menu and randomly select Yrden when you want to Igni) , more UI options and map tweaks, alternate camera, environmental and character model improvements – enjoy significantly better looking vegetation – faster herb harvesting that skips the loot selection window, and bug fixes that address some issues that the community was quite aware of long time ago.
In terms of new content, The Witcher worlds are facing free DLC inspired by the Netflix series The Witcher. We know this will be the first time some players will play wild Hunt, and it is likely that some of these players will enter the game after watching the Netflix series live. Players will now be able to equip items and gear inspired by both Seasons 1 and 2! We have two new armor sets and a steel and silver sword for Geralt, an alternate outfit for Dandelion and new armor for the Nilfgaardian soldiers. And this batch of free DLC comes with a brand new quest, In the Shadow of the Eternal Flame. These additions will bring something interesting for both old and new players, connecting the worlds of show and game, as well as giving experienced players new equipment and new activities in the form of a quest. By the way, these items and quest will also appear on Xbox One!
Another interesting feature to look out for is cross-progression. Xbox players will now be able to seamlessly transfer their saves to other platforms thanks to the cloud. Let’s say you have an old save from six or seven years ago on Xbox One – well, now you can transfer that save to a new generation on Xbox Series X|S and complete the walkthrough!
There are many other elements that players will see once they get their hands on the game, and you can see the game in action in a recent REDStreams broadcast. This next generation update is free for all current Xbox One owners. And if you own the GOTY Edition, you’ll get a free upgrade to the Complete Edition, which includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.
