Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun left the team England To the USA, FIFA approved.

The New York-born 21-year-old, who currently plays on loan at French club Reims, has represented England at the under-21 level but has chosen to play senior international football for his country of birth.

A FIFA spokesperson told the PA news agency: “Actor Folarin Jolaoluwa Balogun’s association change from England to England United States of America approved.”

The news comes just weeks before England kicked off their European Under-21 Championship final campaign in Georgia and Romania.

Balogun made 13 appearances for Lee Carsley, but withdrew from the squad due to injury in March.

Born in America, Balogun settled in England at the age of two. Nigeria through their parents.

Qualified players are allowed to change associations before playing a competitive match for a country’s senior team.

Balogun made 10 first-team appearances and scored two goals for the Gunners and spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Sky Bet Championship Middlesbrough.

However, he has made a name for himself with 19 goals in 34 matches so far in Ligue 1 this season.
