If you’ve been glued to your seat in agonizing anticipation since watching the first eight episodes of Sonic Prime back in December, you’ll no doubt be thrilled to hear that the next installment is coming to Netflix on July 13th.
When was Sonic Prime announced back in February 2021Netflix described it as a 24-episode animated series that will send Sonic on a “journey of self-discovery and redemption” in which the “fate of a strange new multiverse” will be in his hands.
The initial run of Sonic Prime episodes saw Sonic traversing the Shatterverse—a collection of alternate dimensions created after Dr. Eggman’s Paradox Prism was destroyed in battle—on a quest to restore the universe, all with a little help from different versions of his familiar friends.
The last episode ended abruptly with Sonic being attacked by the Shadow in the Void, so expect things to change from there as the saga continues.
Netflix has yet to reveal how many episodes will be included in Sonic Prime’s second installment, but based on its initial batch, it seems reasonable to assume that the streaming service plans to launch its 24 ordered episodes in three series of eight. We’ll find out more when Sonic Prime returns to the Shatterverse on July 13th.
