Cup of blood 3 released last week to the players’ reception, is as brutal as one of his matches. Like his Steam reviews Cyanide developers have a “mostly negative” rating. posted a reply aimed at “resolving the main topics of discussion”.

First off, a less-than-stellar launch. Blood Bowl 3 had server issues, some crashes and “infinite loading” errors that meant some people couldn’t play. All this is there reportedly fixed in Thursday’s patchand some players have reported a marked improvement.

More unusual at the time of release was a “bug” that caused many players who bought Blood Bowl 3 on Steam to get the wrong version. The Brutal Edition, which combines the base game along with additional cosmetics and a bonus in-game currency called Warpstone, was given to all players regardless of which version they purchased. Cyanide says they’re allowing players to keep mis-provided currency by removing cosmetics they didn’t pay for, and giving those who legitimately purchased the Brutal Edition even more in-game currency so they still have their planned boost.

Players seem to be most concerned about monetization. Cyanide says that they “truly believe that our system is fair, useful and optional” and that they “intend to implement features that will allow players to be rewarded with either cosmetic items or Warpstone (currency) during gameplay and purchases “. Players, for their part, seem concerned that these features are missing from the game in its current state, and claim that other factions’ teams are already complete and discoverable among the game’s files, but are being hidden away for sale as DLC.

Cyanide also addresses this, saying that future factions are “still a work in progress, each with varying degrees of completion.” They say one team is at a more advanced stage of development but still has “a lot of testing and validation.”

In short, Blood Bowl 3 is a bit of a mess, at least in the eyes of some players. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I suspect these issues will be resolved over time. The the developers, of course, have plans to work on it for a long time.
