Super Mario Bros. is still in theaters and making enough money to help the movie continue to climb the charts. Now it is even higher on the list of the highest-grossing animated films in the world.
The film now has a worldwide gross of $1.249 billion, ahead of The Incredibles 2 ($1.242 billion). Super Mario Bros. is currently No. 4 on the all-time animated film charts behind Frozen ($1.28 billion), Frozen II ($1.45 billion) and The Lion King remake (1.6 billion dollars).
Disney owns seven of the top 10 positions on the all-time list of animated films. The only non-Disney films on the chart belong to Universal and are Despicable Me, Minions and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

- Frozen 2 – 1.45 billion dollars
- Frozen – 1.28 billion dollars
- The film “Super Mario Brothers” – 1.249 billion dollars
- The Incredibles 2 – $1.24 billion

- Toy Story 4 – $1.073 billion
- Toy Story 3 – $1.067 billion
- Despicable Me 3 – $1.034 billion
- Finding Dory – $1.029 billion
Looking beyond cartoons, the Super Mario Bros. movie ranks 21st of all time, ahead of movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Aquaman, Fate of the Furious ยป etc.
Given the huge commercial success of Super Mario Bros., many are wondering if a sequel will be made, and it sure looks like it’s going to happen.
