Telltale is ready to release its first new game since then a kind of revival, in collaboration with Deck Nine’s other adventure game experts. Episodic adventure The Expanse: A Telltale Series debuts on July 27 with the first episode, with four more episodes coming every two weeks – hopefully keeping those conversations about cooler conversations alive. The full version of the game should be available for drinking from September 21, 2023.

Telltale’s The Expanse takes place right before Prime Video’s hit sci-fi show of the same name, itself based on the novels by James SA Corey, giving us an earlier look at fan-favorite Kamina Drumer. Oh, and actress Kara Gee returns to voice the Drummer in this game, which is always nice to see.

The Expanse universe is set a few hundred years into our future, where humanity has colonized most of the solar system and is expected to put itself in a ridiculous state of cold war. From there, the show delves into political conspiracies, existential dilemmas, and some weird alien stuff from what I understand.

Here, Telltale takes the same prequel approach as The Wolf Among Us nearly a decade ago. It gave them some breathing room from the source material, but it also felt a bit limited in a “Snow White can’t die because she’s in the graphic novels” sense. Regardless, it was a great time, and The Expanse seems to have scratched that classic Telltale itch, too. You’ll have to make tough decisions and bond with a large group of characters as usual. What’s new is sailing through boundless space and narrow corridors of a wrecked ship.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is coming to PC via Epic Games Store, starting from July 27. It will also be available on Xbox and Playstation consoles.
