The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has come a long way, which I think is appropriate given the source material. Now it has a story trailer, like tonight’s Nacon Connect, but the third-person stealth ’em up is impressive again in terms of headdress.

Here is the video:

Gandalf’s hat is a large hanging pyramid; a thin elf wears a head made of branches; the dark lord’s emissary wears a head with unlit Bengal lights; and even his thugs seem to carry inverted vases. No one anywhere wears a normal hat – and I’m delighted.

In my opinion, the rest of the trailer remains as unconvincing as any other Daedalic action adventure we’ve seen since it was announced three years ago. Sure looks like it exist now which is an improvement but also like it Styx: Lord of Shadows with air The fact that Gandalf is here does not immediately make the adventures of Young Gollum convincing.

Ed glanced at Gollum last yearand left “feeling a little dazed”:

Maybe I’m being harsh, especially since I’ve only seen a small glimpse of an early build. I’m sure The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will bring joy to LOTR historians with a mix of exciting new stories, and it’s clear that the developers want the game to appeal to existing fans and newcomers alike. But he may well lose sight of the opportunity given to him. Yes, they put Gollum at your fingertips and he can scratch on all fours and eat bugs, but he’s not that fun to play with. And that’s what worries me.

Still, these are cool hats. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is scheduled to be released sometime in 2023.
