The survival game has already entered the top 20 list the highest player peak of all time on an independent steam SteamDB database.

At the time of writing, it is the fifth most played game on the platform in the last 24 hours, surpassing blockbusters such as Hogwarts heritage and Warzone 2.0.

Sent to search for a missing billionaire on a remote island, you find yourself in a hell filled with cannibals. Create, build and fight for survival, alone or with friends, in this terrifying new open-world survival horror simulator,” reads the official description for the game.

The game is slated to be in early access in about 6-8 months, but according to the developers, “this is subject to change.”

“We’ll leave Early Access when we’re sure it’s the best version of the game possible,” a message on the Steam page reads.

The developer’s previous game, The Forest, is still hugely popular and has grown in popularity thanks to being featured by popular YouTube streamers and content creators.

It is currently unclear if Sons of the Forest will appear on other platforms. The Forest was originally released on PC in April 2018 before appearing on PlayStation 4 in November.
