Euro 2022 winner Jill Scott She will be the first woman to captain England this year Football Help for UNICEF charity match
The match will be played at Old Trafford on Sunday 11 June, where England look to claim their first win over World XI FC since 2018.
Soccer Aid has raised over £75m for UNICEF since its inception in 2006, including £15m from the game that ended 2-2 at the London Stadium last year before World XI took a penalty spot.
Scott was part of the record-breaking England team that won the European Championship title last summer and made headlines again in November after winning ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here program.
After these two successes, the 36-year-old former Manchester City and Everton midfielder, who left football after making 161 appearances for England last August, now says he hopes to hit “Tiz” in June.
Scott said: “Football Aid for Euro, The Jungle and now UNICEF – that’s the holy trinity! I’ve won two, so now I need Soccer Aid to complete ‘The Treble’!
“I’m thinking of all three, yet that might be what I’m most worried about – just look at the names involved! Get a ticket, support this great cause and cheer us up!”
Three other former England international footballers also joined Scott when they made their Soccer Aid debuts.lioness teammate Karen CarneyChelsea’s Champions League winner Gary Cahill and former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Wilshere, who retired at the age of 30 last year and is now head coach of the Gunners under-18 team, is enjoying the chance to return to the pitch.
“I’m looking forward to lacing up my boots again and playing with some of my old friends,” he said.
“I can’t tell you how good these legends are, and I’ve been told a few celebrities are pretty useful as well!
“As the father of young children, being a part of this game means extra to me and I encourage people to buy tickets and show their support.”
Also, DJ Joel Corry and rapper and actor Bugzy Malone make their UK debut, while Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness will make her debut at castle.
chelsea boss Emma Hayes and actress Vicky McClure will also lead the UK team. Gary NevillePaul Scholes, Jermain Defoe, Eni Aluko, Sir Mo Farah and Alex Brooker.
Eight-time Olympic sprint champion Hussein Bolt He will re-captain the World XI with former Republic of Ireland and Tottenham striker Robbie Keane as the team’s coach, and Lee Mack, Steven Bartlett and Kem Cetinay among the players named so far.
