Shang-Chi gets his cloning powers in new MCU concept art for Shang-Chi and The Lord of the Rings, teasing that they might be added in the future.

New concept art reveals Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings almost gave Shang-Chi the cloning powers he lacked from the comics. Simu Liu joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe a few years ago to help bring the Kung Fu master to the big screen. It didn’t take long for audiences to grow fond of Shang-Chi as audiences followed his journey to becoming the Lord of the Ten Rings in his solo film. Shan Chi due to the addition of these weapons, Simu was able to make Liu’s character incredibly powerful, which combined with his fighting skills made him a formidable superhero in the MCU.

Now it turns out that Shang-Chi can be even more powerful than that Stage 4 solo movielike new Shan Chi concept art from The Art of Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings (via Shan-Chi Brazil) teases the lack of cloning abilities in the MCU.

The images featured in Marvel Studios’ recently released concept art book were created by Director of Visual Development Andy Park and show the various ways Shang-Chi can use the Ten Rings. The second half of the pictures show Shang-Chi’s cloning or replication abilities. The idea seems to have been for the ten rings to help create clones of Shang-Chi. The book does not say Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings did you ever plan to add this missing power or if this is an example of Andy Park experimenting with different ideas early in development.

The forces of Shang-Chi don’t always include cloning in the comics, which may be why the movie doesn’t include them. It initially began to reproduce itself in the source material after being exposed to radiation, but eventually lost its power. Shan Chi‘s concept art teases a very different explanation of abilities if they are included. Apparently, each of the ten rings was used to create a clone of Shang-Chi, limiting the number of duplicates to nine – while the original Shang-Chi still needed to wear one.

Although; .. though Shan Chi while not using this missing comical power, the addition of this ability to Shang-Chi’s powers makes him even more powerful in the grand scheme of the MCU. The Ten Rings alone gave Simu Liu’s character immense power and She-Hulk: Lawyer it can Made Shang-Chi a god. Adding replayability to his power pack will be another advantage for the Kung Fu master as his MCU storyline continues.

Marvel Studios may also implement Shang-Chi’s cloning powers in Phase 6. Simu Liu is expected to return to the lineup Shan-Chi 2 at some point, though Avengers: Age of Ultron can also describe his hero. Since the MCU tends to make characters more powerful with each appearance, especially in solo franchises, Shang-Chi could unlock these cloning abilities in his next film to help show his evolution.
