We often think about many things about The Legend of Zelda franchise and, more precisely, its protagonist Link. Which link is the strongest? What does he do in his spare time? How much sleep does he really have?
However, we’ve never considered which link is probably the stinkiest. We’re pretty sure no version of Link smells absolutely perfect — think of the grueling workouts he goes through every game, for example — but as for which one is absolutely stinky? Frankly, we lost it.
After a TikToker however decided to rank the links by how bad they smell, Leading decided to ask longtime producer Eiji Aonuma and Tears of the kingdom directed by Hidemaro Fujibayashi, in which Link is at his stinkiest. Aonuma, probably predictably enough, went with Link from Breath of the wild (and probably Tears of the Kingdom), claiming that barbarian armor in particular would create some pretty nasty smells.
Fujibayashi, however, went with Link from Twilight Princessclaiming that Link not only digs in the dirt and runs around dungeons like a wolf, but also spends a lot of time hanging out with the Horon tribe (be quiet back there!):
“There are several scenes in Twilight Princess where Link engages in sumo wrestling with the Horon tribe. I think he’s pretty stinky in this situation.”
At least we can check off the list of things to ask Aonuma and Fujibayashi about in the future. Maybe we could think of something else in the meantime. For example, where are all the toilets in Skyloft?
