MANILA, Philippines — The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) men’s event will return next year in the Philippines on July 4-9, when eight teams compete.
Having successfully hosted men’s and women’s tournaments, VNL announced its return to the country with Week 3 of the men’s tournament in Pasay City in 2023.
Crowd-favourite Japan will play again on the territory of the Philippines with China, Slovenia, Brazil, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands and Canada.
Yuki Ishikawa, Tatsunori Otsuka, Yuji Nishida and Ran Takahashi competed in front of Filipino fans last June at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, where champion France also played.
The country also hosted the women’s race, featuring strong teams from the USA and Japan.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation will bring the world-class men-only competition next year.
The VNL men’s tournament will begin June 6-11 in Ottawa, Canada and Nagoya, Japan, while the women’s tournament will begin on May 30 and June 4 in Ankara, Turkey and Nagoya.
The last stage for the women’s competition will be held between 12-16 July, and the men’s final will be held between 19-23 July. VNL will announce the host cities next month.
