MANILA, Philippines—NLEX kept their chances of making it to the quarterfinals alive after stunning Barangay Ginebra with a 120-117 overtime win in the PBA Stewards’ Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Friday.
Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser knocked down a trio with 1:37 left in overtime to put his team up 119-117.
Import Earl Clark scored 37 points, while Don Trollano scored 20 of 26 points in the third round and advanced to NLEX 4-7, catching a five-game slip as he finished Ginebra’s five-in-a-row streak.
This kept the Road Warriors looking for a spot in the quarterfinals, which had to beat the Meralco Bolts on November 30.
“Kung baga sa isda, kumakawag-kawag pa,” said Coach Frankie Lim.
Ginebra was down 7-3 for fourth place as they had to beat NorthPort on Sunday and Converge on Nov.
The Gin Kings’ defeat made the Bay Area Dragons top seed to the quarterfinals, who won 10-2.
Justin Brownlee finished with 39 points but missed his last four shots, including the tied three shots before the horn.
