When talking about his memoir “Swagger: Super Bowls, Brass Balls and Footballs” Jimmy Johnson referred to his relationship with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Johnson came from the University of Miami to coach the Cowboys in 1989 when Jones bought the team and fired icon Tom Landry. Johnson was 1-15 in his first season as NFL head coach, but a handful of shrewd moves brought the team great success, including back-to-back Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993.

However, the fight between Johnson and Jones became clear before the 1994 season began and led to Johnson’s departure from the organization. Since then, Johnson has been in the Hall of Fame, and Jones would agree to induct Johnson into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor in 2021. Ultimately, it hasn’t happened yet.

Johnson appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday and was asked about his relationship with Jones.

“I said I started the chapter about Jerry in the book, I said, ‘People don’t really understand our relationship, it’s for a simple reason – I don’t understand our relationship.’ When we were together, everything was 100%, we were happy, hugging each other one way or another. There was the right conflict and tension,” he said. Steve Doocy.

Johnson recalled the moment he met Jones after the billionaire who bought the establishment.

ABOUT JOSH MCDANIELS’ SITUATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHTS RAIDERS OWNER MARK DAVIS: ‘ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY’

“You see, I remember it like it was yesterday when Jerry bought the Cowboys. We were in his car and he said, ‘Jimmy, you’re in charge of football, I’m in charge of money, and we’re in charge of sports. I’m going to make sports history.’ We wrote sports history and it went well for a long time and then all of a sudden we started to win and then when we started winning things changed a bit, it started to get a little tense.

“People say he’s ‘puffed a lot’. No he didn’t interfere. He just wanted to be more the center of attention when we started earning. I was proud of what we had accomplished. Maybe I didn’t want to share it. I make mistakes on most of it. I should have shared more.”

Johnson said his book talks about the sacrifices and struggles that come with winning with the Hurricanes, Cowboys and Miami Dolphins.

“In some ways, this book is an apology for my family for not being there,” he said. “Both of my sons played football and I’ve never seen either of them play.”

“You know, not so long ago I talked to my sons about this and they said, ‘Daddy, we wouldn’t change anything.’ Frankly, we would love for you to come to our games but we took advantage of the success you had and now we are.” It’s like being super successful.”

“Swagger” was released on Tuesday.
