Mike Flanagan, creator of the horror series Exiles of the House of Hill and Midnight massmocked his field for a new one A Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Original A Nightmare on Elm Street premiered in 1984 and is considered one of the best horror films of all time. The film started the horror franchise of the same name with eight sequels from 1985 to 2003. in 2010, A Nightmare on Elm Street was remade by director Samuel Bayer, but it was a box office flop and no other film has been added to the franchise since.

Flanagan says he has a full slate for the new one A Nightmare on Elm Street prepared for years, but franchise rights are difficult to obtain. Flanagan recounts this when he brought up the idea to direct A Nightmare on Elm Street until his agent, his agent didn’t know who to contact or even who to pitch the idea to. One on my list (franchise) has been around forever A Nightmare on Elm Street. Boy, that would be fun (laughs). I have a complete idea of what I developed a few years ago, and I understand that the situation with the rights to the name is so fraught that no one knows who controls it and no one knows who to pitch. So I tell my agents, ‘Send me A Nightmare on Elm Street‘ and they’re like, ‘We want to, but we don’t know who you should talk to.’ And I talked to him – I spent almost a year of my life with him (A Nightmare on Elm Street star) Heather Langenkamp and we were talking about it. No one seems to know what to do.
