Today, Mojang finally announced the name of the upcoming major update to its wildly popular sandbox game Minecraft.
The update was presented back in October on Minecraft Live, but simply numbered 1.20 without an official name. The title was announced today during Minecraft Monthly liveand this is “Trails and Tales”.
According to vanilla Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson, this update is all about self-expression, storytelling, and world-building, and it’s the Journey (aka our “Paths”) that brings it all together.
At the moment, the release date of the update has not yet been announced, but some of its elements are already available for testing in snapshots and beta versions.
We have already seen new blocks that will make their way in Minecraft along with the update cherry blossom biome, mob Snifferand new A feature of archaeology. At this point, we still don’t know if the feature list is locked or if there’s something else in the update that Mojang hasn’t revealed yet.
If you are not familiar minecraft, it’s a hugely popular sandbox game that Microsoft, after acquiring Mojang, is now publishing on literally every platform with a chip inside. I would list them for you, but I’ve honestly lost count. The last big patch, Wild updatewas released a while ago, so it’s time for something new.
We are also expecting his younger brother, Minecraft legends, which is not a sandbox game. And yet it brings back the world, characters, and aesthetic of a magical real-time action strategy. It is available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC April 18, 2023. Of course, this will also be included in Game Pass.
