“We now have a winning mindset” – Varane on United’s development under Ten Hag

Follow live updates by: Manchester United Welcome Barcelona to Old Trafford tonight for the rematch Europa League Play off.

The draw was wonderfully balanced after an exciting 2-2 draw at Camp Nou last week. Marcus Rashford’s second half goal immediately canceled Marcos Alonso’s goal for Barça and United took the lead with an own goal from Jules Kounde. But there’s been another change as Raphinha’s late equalizer gives Xavi’s team hope ahead of tonight’s reunion.

Barcelona are missing talented midfielders Pedri and Gavi after the first game, while Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer are suspended for the match in Spain.

Manchester United vs Barcelona

hello and welcome The Independent’s Coverage of tonight’s Europa League playoff game, which will see either Manchester United or Barcelona advance to the last 16 stage.

A week ago the two European heavyweights had a fabulously fun 2-2 draw at Camp Nou and Barcelona opened the score with Marcos Alonso before Marcus Rashford evened out. Rashford was key to United’s next goal, with his driving run and cross into the box Jules Kounde resulting in an own goal, but Barcelona bounced back in the late second half and Raphinha curled up into a home to delicately balance the draw.

The first match was a melee affair where both sides had moments of dominance and control before the momentum swept the other way. Expect something similar tonight, though Erik ten Hag will hope the home advantage plays a role in United’s favor.

Barça lack midfielders Pedri and Gavi, but Xavi’s squad has enough quality to make up for their absence. This should be a fascinating match that will end with one of these teams being kicked out of the competition.

Who will pass tonight?
