What is LIV Golf?
LIV Golf is the breakaway league led by the two-time Open champion Greg Norman He is supported as CEO and by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
PIF has invested unprecedented amounts in sports, both for players to sign up and for wallets for each event, and has received condemnation from human rights charities such as Amnesty International.
It brings a new look to golf, with new competition rules and format, team direction emerging as its unique selling point.
There will be 12 teams and 48 players on each course, and the tournament will be played over 54 holes and three days instead of the traditional 72 holes and four days. No interruptions unlike the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, LIV Golf also added the shotgun start, which they say encourages faster play with groups starting from different holes and playing in different order across the course.
