Knight

Unspeakable horror lurks beneath the galvanized steel. Dead by daylightthe last killer Knight, a skilled tactician from a bygone age who works alongside his three deadly guardsmen.

To deal effectively with this Killer, you must use a strategic approach, use clever tactics to outmaneuver the Survivors, and overwhelm opponents with well-placed guards. While the Knight comes with 3 character perks – nowhere to Hide, Hexadecimal: Face in darkness, as well as Arrogance – this guide is all about his Power and how to use it.

Knight

new power

Strength of the Knight Guardia Compagnaallows players to create patrol paths for them three AI-controlled guards to travel. Guards are called one after the other in a constant cyclical rotation, each with a unique specialization. Once summoned, they will detect and chase down any nearby Survivor, alerting you to their presence.

By creating a patrol path, you can order them to destroy destructible walls and pallets, or damage generators. Once they finish their task, they will leave and your power will be restored.

Know your guards

The Knight can call on three of his loyal Guardians who share his penchant for hunting: carnifex, Killeras well as Jailer. Their order of summoning never changes, but each has its own macabre specialty. To succeed as a Knight, it is important that you become familiar with each one so that you can use them effectively.

carnifex is the first, recognizable by his large stature, grotesque appearance and massive cleaver. He specializes in quickly damaging generators and destroying pallets and destructible walls.

Killer the second, recognizable by his bald head, leather armor and serrated dagger. He specializes in hunting, moving faster than his compatriots while on patrol. His speed makes him perfect for pushing Survivors into your path.

Jailer – the third, recognizable by a notched helmet, plate armor and a flail. This Guardian is the most thorough, patrolling the longest and diligently looking for survivors in his path.

It’s possible that you’ll need to send out guards frequently in a high-speed challenge, so don’t worry too much if you lose track at some point. You’ll be able to see which one is next in the cycle by checking the glowing symbol next to your weapon, as each Guardian has a specific one. The Jailer has a set of keys, the Assassin has a blade, and Carnifex has a skeletal helmet.

Be the commander

Decades of martial prowess have shaped the Knight into a formidable warrior capable of taking down enemies with ease. While his skill with a blade cannot be denied, his tactical mind is just as perceptive. In fact, it’s a skill set that you should also hone in on as the Knight’s core ability focuses on multitasking and predicting.

Remember you are not alone – your guard meant work together with you and must take the appropriate position. They can conduct reconnaissance in your absence, providing important information and potentially confirming suspicions. You can also use them to drive survivors into favorable territory – such as an area without large loops or pallets – by planning your routes accordingly. It’s much more efficient to intercept survivors being chased by a guard than to run along the same path with them.

Sometimes you will know the exact location of the Survivor. At these moments, you can try to quickly wound this Survivor with the help of your Guard. The trick is to end your patrol path right in front of the survivor, or otherwise above him, so that your guard will appear and immediately begin the chase. If successful, you can launch your own attack and kill the Survivor in a matter of seconds. This tactic can also be effective during a chase if you can track the survivor’s audio cues.

While using guards to chase down survivors is beneficial, it’s important to manage your time in the Trial effectively. Sometimes the survivors use a certain strategy when they drop the pallet early to either force you to destroy it or ignore it and continue the chase on their own terms. Luckily, your Guardians can render this strategy ineffective, as you can use them to break the Plank while you’re actively chasing a Survivor – though you’ll slow down for a moment.

You won’t be able to use Guard right after that, so consider assigning a break action if you feel confident enough to end the chase. Sometimes you damage a Generator only for the nearest Survivor to come out of hiding and stop the regression. If you predict they will, you can use your guard to retreat and punish their stealth tactics.
