JONBON was down 2-1 for Arkle after making an extremely impressive exit over the fence.

The £570,000 full brother of 2016 Arkle champion Douvan made almost no mistakes as he beat the top-rated Monmiral by seven lengths at Warwick.

Paddy Power and Betfair cut the Nicky Henderson-trained superstar from 7-2 to just 2-1 for success at next year’s Festival.

Winning jockey Aidan Coleman said, “It’s simple. He jumped very well and won well, great.

“Monmiral is a very good horse and we were just a few kilos behind him in the ratings.

“You wouldn’t have guessed that it would be the people’s only horse race, but we won well.

“This is everything I wanted to see.

“The preliminaries went super, started easy and jumped super, we’re very happy.”

Coral also made Jonbon the 2-1 favorite and spokesman Lewis Knowles said: “You couldn’t help but be impressed by Jonbon in his first chase debut today.

“He jumped well, traveled strong, and slew two first-class horses this afternoon.

“As a result, he’s now a hot favorite for Arkle.”

Coach Hendo said: “This was always going to be his game but he was a good hurdler last year – just one better than him.

“This was always going to be the game, it was what we hoped for, but it’s such a relief now that it’s over.

“He’s galloping, he was so comfortable today – it was great to be honest with you, you can’t expect more.”

“It was pretty flawless. Most of our horses come to run and I don’t understand why he didn’t do the same.

“Henry VIII in Sandown is where we want to go next.”

Henderson also confirmed Saturday’s glorious Supreme winner Constitution Hill that all systems are Ascot fit.
