After a month of teases, it looks like the next Mortal Kombat game is tomorrow – No According to reports, Mortal Kombat 12 will get an official launch.
Series developer NetherRealm has now released a short video teasing some unspecified announcement tomorrow, May 18 at 2pm BST/6am PT. And given its title — Tomorrow is a New Dawn — and its arrival after a bunch of teasers hinting at the reveal of the next Mortal Kombat, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to assume that’s what we’ll be getting.
As you’ve no doubt noticed if you’ve already ridden the hype train, NetherRealm’s latest video features the same time-based visuals as his Previous trailers – that the last of which saw the ticking clock gradually approach the number 12 before skipping completely and stopping at the number 1.
Fans quickly began to speculate that this was all leading up to a reboot of the series – what with all the 12 skips to go back to one thing – and those theories were quickly confirmed with words from reliable console shop spy Bilbil-kun, who evidence found the game will be called Mortal Kombat 1 and will be released on PC, Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
It’s been four years since Mortal Kombat 11 launched, so news about the next game is long overdue. I hope everything will be known tomorrow.
