Paramount CEO Bob Bakish recently revealed this Mission: Impossible – Dead Count Part One made people lose their minds in early test screening. Tom Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the first of a two-part entry in the long-running American spy film series, due for release this July. The Best Weapon: Maverick Joining the star cast are Ving Rhames as Luther Stickwell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunne and Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust. The next movie will present La Bamba Esai Morales as the film’s antagonist and Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Hayley Atwell as the mysterious Grace.


Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference (via Submission deadline; termination period), Bakish claimed “the audience went crazy” in an early trial screening for Mission: Impossible – Dead Count Part One. The CEO went on to praise the film and Cruise for his work on the project. Read what Bakish had to say below:

First Mission: Impossible the film was released in 1996 and despite its confusing yet twisty plot, it wowed the audience with its thrilling sets. With each entry, Cruise pushes the franchise by building on his predecessor’s action sequences and taking the story to new places. Mission: Impossible – Dead Count will see the film serialize the first two-part story.

As seen in most films of his career, Cruise strives for realism through thrilling stunts that have yet to grace the silver screen. Early trailers and released set photos have shown it Mission: Impossible 7 continues to push the franchise to new heights. The upcoming film will see Cruise riding a train, riding a horse, being handcuffed in a hilarious car chase, and free-falling off a cliff.
