Ever since it burst onto the gaming scene back in 2015, Discord has been an integral part of online gaming communication. At least, it was in the case of computer games. But that’s about to change, as Discord’s latest update also added voice chat integration for the PlayStation 5. This will allow PS5 users to finally use Discord’s voice chat without having to do it through another device. If you’re not sure what you need to do to get Discord running on your PlayStation 5, our How to use Discord on PS5 explained guide is here to answer all the most important questions about it.
How to use Discord on PlayStation 5
If you don’t already have a Discord account, the first step is to make one. After that, the next step is to make sure your PS5 is updated to the latest version. Next, open the Discord app. From there, go to User Settings > Connections and look for the PlayStation logo icon. Click on it. This will take you to the PlayStation website where you will need to sign in using your PSN account credentials. Note that if you have already connected your Discord and PSN accounts before the latest Discord update, you will need to disconnect them and connect them again.
Once you’ve done that, go to Settings on your PS5 > Users & Accounts > Linked Services, then connect Discord from there as well. It is very important to first link Discord to PS5 and then link PS5 to Discord. You can now use the “Join on PlayStation” (if using Discord on mobile) or “Move to PlayStation” (if using on PC) option in each voice channel or group DM to then start using the voice channel on PS5. During a voice call, you can press the PlayStation button on the DualSense controller to access options such as adjusting the volume, switching channels, and exiting the call.
