Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon will likely return sometime in 2024, according to HBO programming boss Casey Bloys. He said Variety that launching Season 2 in 2024 “is a good guess,” but that’s all the executive shared.

Bloys also noted that Season 2 will likely not be eligible for the 2024 Emmy season, which ends on May 31, 2024. So it looks like fans can expect House of the Dragon to arrive somewhere starting in June 2024.

HBO is developing a number of additional Game of Thrones spin-offs, including one dedicated to Jon Snow, but Blois will not be drawn into discussing any of them except at a very high level. “My philosophy is that a good script is the number one priority,” he said. “I’m not doing it on the basis of wanting to have one a year, but two a year. I want to do it based on scripts that we’re excited about.”

He added: “You have to develop a lot of things, try things. You never know what will work. So that’s what we’re doing now. I don’t mind any number of shows. There’s probably a natural limit to how many fans want, but I’m open to anything as long as we’re really good about the scripts and the perspective of the show.”

Other Game of Thrones spin-offs currently include Ten Thousand Ships, Sea Serpent and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. However, there are no guarantees that any of the shows will be made, but scripts are being written.
