Makati Football Club’s (MFC) Girls’ U14 will take the silver medal from her international debut at the Singapore International Youth Cup, which endorses a program aimed at bringing out future stars from the grassroots.

Junior girls lost 1-0 to Australia’s Northern New South Wales team in the final. MFC Girls U14, consisting of country football players, defeated the same team 2-1 in the group stage.

The girls also beat Fremantle 2-1 and Football West 5-0.

“We hope one day we can align our schedule with the national federation so we can help develop our local athletes and provide them with better opportunities to maximize their potential,” said Makati FC chief coach SeLu Lozano.

Sofia Galera was the team’s top scorer with three goals, followed by Ushin Valencia and Maeva Javier with two goals each. 10-year-old Ariana Gementiza scored a goal.
