At the Academy Award ceremony, Disney released the full trailer for the upcoming remake Little mermaid, and it offers us our best look at what this film has to offer. As you can see, this movie will be a remake of the classic animated film.

Halle Bailey plays the role of Ariel in the film and she delivers a mesmerizing performance. One thing is for sure, she has a great voice and she does a great job performing the classic songs we all know and love.

The trailer also offers a first look at other characters from the film, including Ursula, Sebastian, Scuttle, and more! The film is from the director Rob Marshalland this synopsis:

A favorite story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Ariel, the youngest and most obedient of King Triton’s daughters, longs to learn more about the world beyond the sea, and when she visits the surface, she falls into the hands of Prince Eric. Although mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. He makes a pact with the evil sea witch Ursula that gives him a chance to experience life on land, but ends up putting his life and his father’s crown at risk.

The film also has lead roles Jonah Hower-Kingas Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, David Diggs (Hamilton, snow piercer) as the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay (Luka) as Flounder’s voice; Awkwafina (Raya and the Last Dragon) as the voice of Scuttle; Art Malik (Homeland) as Sir Grimsby; Noma Dumezweni (Mary Poppins returns) as Queen Selina; and Javier Bardem (No country for old men) as King Triton.

New original songs composed by the film will also be included Alan Menken and Diggs Hamilton co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Little mermaid It will be released in theaters on May 26, 2023.
