The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of really cool new abilities, but some players can’t help but miss one particular one from Breath of the Wild.
Spoilers for some abilities you’ll unlock a little later in Tears of the Kingdom!
One of the coolest surprises for me in Breath of the Wild was that Link’s abilities weren’t limited to just four, which he could use thanks to the Sheikah Slate that you get at the start of the game. As you progress through each dungeon, you unlock powers associated with past champions, each with their own unique uses. The same goes for Tears of the Realm, only now you get a little spirit version of the new champions that walk with you, and interacting with them allows you to use their powers. But even with all the new ways for Link to get around Hyrule, many players can’t help but miss one Breath of the Wild power in particular: the Revali Storm.
In Breath of the Wild, Revali’s storm will simply let you miss a whole bunch of climbs by blowing you into the air with a gust of wind. This is the most useful ability of the four, as it can really speed up mountain climbing. Thulin has a similar ability in Tears of the Realm, but it advances you instead. And as one Reddit user shared on the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit, “you never realize how much you love something until it’s gone.”
In a thread discussing Rivalry’s Flurry, several players expressed similar sentiments, with one player even noting that “the number of times I’ve tried to use Rivalry’s Flurry in Tears of the Kingdom is about 50 times more than” they’d like to admit . . “Oh my god YES, say what you will about this cheeky bastard, but his ability was a goat,” said another. Other users complained about the loss of Remote Bombs, which were essentially replaced by Bomb Flowers and Zonai Time Bombs.
Although, to be honest, with everyone weird and wonderful creations you can do, there are many ways to navigate the sky. Revali isn’t the only bird absent from the sequel either, as it’s a fan favorite in Breath of the Wild. also seems missing.
