ENGLAND’s Three Lions are flying to the World Cup tomorrow in a Gay Pride jet – to show a red card to host country Qatar’s intolerance.

Boss Gareth Southgate and captain Harry Kane will lead the 26-man squad on “Rain Bow,” a Virgin Atlantic A350 Airbus.

Below the cabin is an Oscar motif, with the airline’s flying icon following the LGBTQ+ Union Jack.

The gesture was suggested by FA chiefs who wanted to voice their concerns about gay rights in the strictly Muslim state, where homosexuality still carries the death penalty.

Southgate has vowed to resist. We are very strong in inclusivity. We understand the challenges this tournament brings. . . human rights issues.”

He said it was “unlikely” to follow Fifa’s guidance during the Cup to focus solely on football.

“We’ve always talked about topics that we think need to be talked about, especially those we think we can influence.”

Kane has already shown his support for the LGBTQ+ community by wearing a rainbow armband while playing for club Spurs.

The players gathered today at St George’s Park, home of the England teams in Staffs, Burton-on-Trent, ahead of the seven-hour flight with Rain Bow to Doha, Qatar.

It is leased for the use of team, backroom staff and FA officials only and has 44 premium, 56 premium and 235 economy seats.

The plush jet has a social space called The Loft where players can “meet and mingle”.

Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that the UK side will be using the aircraft – call-name G-VPRD.

A source from Three Lions said: “The choice of this particular aircraft is no accident.

FIFA, which awarded the World Cup to Qatar despite its human rights record, may seek to ban the teams’ “political” actions in the future.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, the England team will arrive at Doha’s luxury Souq Al Wakra hotel.
