Elden Ring is getting its first DLC called Shadow of the Erdtree, according to a surprise announcement on the game’s official Twitter account. Shadow of Erdtree is “currently under development” with no release date yet. The expansion will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

That’s pretty much all we know about the DLC at this point. Details on the expansion’s price and content are currently unavailable, though the image in the tweet may provide some clues as to what to expect.

DLC for Elden Ring has been eagerly awaited and anticipated for a long time, as past From Software games like Bloodborne have received expansions, but From Software has remained pretty quiet on the subject until now. The studio released various patches post-release, mostly aimed at fixing issues and adding additional PvP elements such as Colosseum free update where players can fight in single or multiplayer duels.

Elden Ring became a hit in 2022, sold more than 20 million copies on the eve of his one-year anniversary. It was also anointed as GameSpot Game of the year 2022 and won awards at other industry events.
