Bungie has released a detailed preview upcoming mid-season weapon update for Fate 2, containing significant buffs for a number of primary weapons. The exotic SMG Tarrabah and the legendary Ikelos will see PvP nerfs in this update, with a number of other map tweaks and balances.
The main purpose of this weapon balance pass is to shore up the sometimes lackluster primary weapon class, especially as PvE content becomes more challenging. Assault Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Hand Cannons, Pistols, and Scout Rifles will all receive buffs in the update. Bungie explained that SMGs and bows were used to “benchmark” these buffs, with the intention of bringing other weapons to the same level of effectiveness.
Auto Rifles will receive a 25% damage boost against red and orange banded enemies in PvE, Pulse Rifles, Hand Cannons and Sidearms will receive a 20% boost, while Scout Rifles will receive a 10% boost. The weapons specialist team said that in Heroic and Legendary content, you have a better chance of hitting red bar enemies with one shot. In a comment on Twitter, Bungie explained that the above buffs also apply to exotic weapons and stack with a 40% increased damage against red bar enemies.
Bungie is also looking at the weapons that currently dominate the PvP meta in an attempt to balance out emissions. First in the crosshairs is the Ikelos SMG, which turned out to have some outdated settings that greatly reduced its recoil. This effect has now been removed, making Ikelos recoil more in line with other SMGs.
Tarraba is also starting to get nerfed as Bungie reduces the amount of Ravenous Beast energy gained from taking damage from 3% to 1% and also reduces the scale from 16 to 15.
The Weapons Specialist team also took a look at the changes expected for the launch of Season 21, which will include reduced damage for aggressively framed SMGs, a major overhaul of the hip fire reticles, a 10% increase in sniper rifle damage in PvE, and more custom exotic buffs. weapons
