A short teaser of the next horror from Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures Anthology series has appeared on YouTube. It’s called Directive 8020, and it seems like it’s going completely science fiction and heading out into outer space, Event Horizon style. The teaser video appears to have been taken from the end of a pre-release copy of its predecessor, The Devil In Me, which comes out tomorrow, so stay tuned for our review. Supermassive will most likely release an official teaser after the release of The Devil in Me. You can watch the leaked teaser below if the possibility of spoilers doesn’t scare you.
We have known about Directive 8020 for several months since the details of the second season of the Dark Pictures Anthology have been known. disclosed on trademark applications back in February. Four other upcoming games were listed in the submissions: The Craven Man, Intercession, Winterfold, and Presents O Death with an unusual sound. There were only four games in the first season of The Dark Pictures, so the last one might be different from what we’re used to from the anthology series.
Rebecca had the opportunity to work on The Dark Pictures’ forthcoming release of The Devil in Me just before Halloween and thought it might turn out to be the best. This is a game different from the first three because there is nothing supernatural about it. Directive 8020 sounds like it’s going to turn straight into sci-fi horror aboard a spaceship that continues the break from the supernatural started by The Devil in Me. Will it end up being like other horror games like Dead Space or Alien: Isolation straight to video? Actually, it sounds pretty interesting.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me is coming to Steam tomorrow, November 18th. There is no release date for Directive 8020 yet, but I will let you know when more is announced.
