The Crucial MX500 is one of the the best gaming SSDs in the SATA category in my books, right up there with the legendary Samsung 870 Evo. This is because the solid-state drive delivers excellent performance while operating within the SATA interface, with simple TLC NAND flash memory and a DRAM-equipped design that provides high stable performance – something that non-DRAM QLC designs lack.
The 2TB Crucial MX500 is down to $102.99 on Amazon US today, nearly 50% off MSRP and the lowest price we’ve ever recorded.
Although NVMe drives offer better performance, not every computer has a free NVMe slot, or any NVMe slot at all. In these situations, the MX500 is a strong choice and can work well as an OS drive, game drive, media drive, or all of the above. The 2TB of storage on offer here is enough for just about anything, while the 560MB/s read and 510MB/s write speeds are plenty for most uses – we’d only assume the NVMe drive is necessary for tasks like video 4K. editing/filming or DirectStorage games like Forspoken. As for everything else, the MX500 should serve you well – I really found it reliable in my time with it!
Is this a good deal for you or are you all on board the NVMe train? Let me know in the comments and stay tuned for more deals tomorrow as we wrap up the week!
