Murray defeated Muller yesterday

Andy Murray battled for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win against Alexandre Müller at the Qatar Open yesterday and talked about how he found the will to stay in the game after game.

“I had to start going a lot more into my shots. I wasn’t working enough with the ball in the first set, he was dictating the numbers and making me run.” said,

“I’ve played a lot of tennis in the past few months, so this didn’t give me the best chance to win. I became more attacking, I came to the nets more when I had the opportunity.

“He (Muller) had a great tournament going through the qualifiers. He’s had good wins over the years beating Gasquet and Tsonga, so I knew it would be a tough match. He plays very well and has more experience, I hope he’ll be here more often.”

Murray aims for more than Qatar Open title

Andy Murray says he really wants to win the Qatar Open this year, but he has other goals he’s aiming for. Murray, who won in Doha in 2008 and 2009, said:

“I would love to win a (title) but I have goals to achieve more than that. I put myself in a position to do that now as we go into the last few games.

“I feel like the last few weeks have been a step in the right direction, and if I continue to play and compete like I do now, I will have more chances to not only win a championship, but also to do that.” This is the last phase of my career.
