Meet Special Agent Saga Anderson
How’s that for a hero shot? It feels straight out of The X-Files, featuring the game’s second character, FBI Special Agent Saga Anderson. Shortly after this shot in the trailer, we see her starring in her own in-game moments, but here we see another eye-catching detail: her very comfortable knit sweater. That seems like an odd choice of clothing for an FBI agent, perhaps even a mom-like one.
I don’t think this sweater has any deeper historical significance, but I do think it helps us begin to understand Saga as a character. She’s said to be a brilliant criminal profiler, and I have no doubt that she is, but her sweater reveals a side of her that’s a little less self-serious than you’d expect given her line of work. I can’t wait to meet her.
Story-wise, we learn something else important at this point: Special Agent Nightingale, who has been stalking Alan for most of the first game, suggesting that the town bully is the cause of all the town’s current problems, is dead. Saga must investigate his death. In the original game, we last saw him after he was seemingly possessed by a Dark Presence, but unlike Alan, he was not in a Dark Place. He seemed to be another Captured – the name given to those claimed by the Dark Presence, who in gameplay terms represent the enemy faction. What happened to Nightingale? That’s up to Saga and the players to decide.
