Nintendo has officially announced plans for the next Nintendo Direct event, which will take place in early March, but it will focus on Super Mario Bros. movies, not video games. Nintendo Fans have a lot to look forward to until the end of 2023. There are major AAA game releases for the Nintendo Switch, the Super Nintendo World theme park at Universal Studios Hollywood is now open to the public, and more. However, this March’s Nintendo Direct will be extra special.
This won’t be the first Nintendo Direct in 2023. On February 8, Nintendo held an event to showcase some of its biggest projects for 2023. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the main focusbut there were also discoveries for a Metroid Prime remaster, new Professor Leighton and adding Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscriptions.
The surprise is that there won’t be a future Nintendo Direct focusing on the Nintendo Switch or any future releases of the game platform. Instead, Nintendo’s presentation will focus on the movie. The movie “Super Mario Brothers”. it’s slated for release on April 7th, and Nintendo wants to build some excitement for the movie. The Nintendo Direct will officially air on March 9th at 2:00 PM PT/5:00 PM ET.
As for the Nintendo Direct content, Nintendo only says that it will be the debut finale trailer for The movie “Super Mario Brothers”. during the presentation. If Nintendo only planned to show a trailer, they probably wouldn’t have held a Nintendo Direct for it. As such, there may be more news about the movie that Nintendo shares as part of the event.
The only other detail that Nintendo revealed is that there will be no “game information” in the Nintendo Direct. The movie “Super Mario Brothers”. is Nintendo’s sole focus. This means there will be no surprise DLC for Mario Kart 8there is nothing new mario platformer or any other gaming news at the show. Maybe there will be news nearby, like product announcements or something like that.
This is not the first Super Mario movie Nintendo Direct of course. Nintendo has already held two such Nintendo Directs, one in October 2022 and one in November 2022. Each of these Nintendo Directs featured a new trailer, as well as introductions from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, Illumination’s Chris Meledandri, and actors including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Seth Rogen. Expect a similar presentation for The movie “Super Mario Brothers”.The next Nintendo Direct is March 9.
